Dvd-r,'unable To Shift During Duplication Process. Duplication Aborted.' Why?

On my Toshiba D-VR4X using a new DVD-R, I keep getting the error "Unable to shift during duplication process. Duplication aborted." How do I fix this?

It is possible that if you are trying to copy a DVD you are coming up against the security built into the dvd unit and the disk to prohibit copying. I suggest looking at the disk you are trying to duplicate and verify that it is secure or not.
