I have bought 2 lamps that lasted on a mater of hrs. before they exploded. The fan seems to be working but I dont' know how well. Could it be just bad bulbs?

I have seen these lamps go bad numerous times, and if you are purchasing them from a Toshiba authorized dealer then you know you are getting good lamps. There is a ballast circuit that starts up the lamp, and as the lamp warms up this ballast circuit will deliver less power to maintain the lamp. If this section of the circuit fails it could destory a perfectly good lamp. I have only seen this in a couple instances. Normally when this ballast fails, it will stop lighting the lamp altogether. Normally, problems on lamps are associated with the malfunctions of the bulbs. You have to check it carefully if there is really problem with the bulbs. You can do this by testing another bulbs if it would work.
