How To Hook Up Dvd Player To Led Hdmi Tv

 a 50 inch LED toshiba tv model # 50m2u  I am trying to hook up a dvd player with red white yellow cables  i have hooked up this way.(see below) I get great picture but no sound. This is not a hdmi dvd player just the tv is. On both the TV and DVD component setup: Plug the red RCA fitting in the component port marked "Pr (red) Plug the white RCA fitting in the component port marked "Pb (blue) Plug the yellow RCA fitting in the component port marked "Y (green)

The green, red, blue are what is called component connections. A component connection only carries video. You can use the yellow, red, white COMPOSITE cable to make the connection but then you would also need another red & white cable to connect to the DVD audio out to the TV's audio in. Also, if you have a BluRay DVD you will probably want to get a tru COMPONENT cable since that will give a better quality picture. Even better would be to utilize the HDMI connectors if they are available on both the DVD and TV.
