Hs45 Hedge Trimmer
The hedge trimmer was running it stopped running check for spark there was no spark replaced ignition module coil now it's backfiring through the carburetor

When you replaced the ignition module you need to make sure that you have it located correctly as this sets the timing. To adjust the timing use a strip of plastic from a plastic liquid bottle like washing liquid etc. It is around 14 thou thick. Place this between the coil and the flywheel and when you turn the wheel round the magnet will pull the coil towards it. Make sure both sides of the coil are trapped by the plastic. The gap should then be set. Tighten the screws and try again. Backfiring usually says that the timing is wrong but also make sure that the fuel mixture is correct and that the cable is not caught making the throttle slightly open so putting too much fuel into the machine.
