What Are The Steps To Run Diagnostics On Sony Kdp65ws550 ?

Audio comes, No video TV shuts off and the Standby flashes 10 times rapidly.  Unplug, replug, Power same scenario,  but flashing 5 times, this will continue to alternate between the 10 flash & 5 flash until I give up & leave it unplugged for the day.  Then replug and will come on.  What is the life expectancy of these TV's?  I don't want to spend more on having it repaired & have it go out completely after 30 days and have to buy a new one.

There are probably two issues going on with your TV, and a smart move might be to not put any money in to this. Life expectancy would be 8-10 years, and the set has a memory location that stores the shut down failures so a technician can see the history in case the customer hasn't been paying attention.

10X is normally a capacitor or the regulator IC for the 17vdc supply, and the 5X usually means a picture tube is at the end of it's life. I suppose the 17vdc could trigger the 5X code, but if you have a technician fix this supply (expect $300) and the picture tube is still weak then it will likely mean another $200-$300.
