Yes, you can still record on tape with the CMT-ED2 even without a remote. Although it may be more convenient to have the remote, you can still operate the basic functions of the tape recorder directly on the unit itself. To record on tape without the remote, follow these steps:

1. Make sure the tape you want to record onto is inserted into the cassette deck of the CMT-ED2.

2. Press the "Function" button on the main unit until you reach the "Tape" function mode. This will allow you to control the tape functions.

3. Use the buttons on the main unit to control the recording functions. Look for buttons such as "Record," "Play," "Stop," "Pause," and "Rewind/Forward." These buttons are typically located on the front panel of the CMT-ED2.

4. Press the "Record" button to start the recording. You can then select the input source (e.g., the built-in CD player, radio, or an external device) by using the appropriate buttons on the unit.

Please note that the availability and location of specific buttons may vary slightly depending on the model and version of the CMT-ED2 you have. It's always a good idea to consult the user manual for your specific model to get precise instructions. If you're unable to find the remote control for the CMT-ED2, you might consider looking for a universal remote that is compatible with your stereo system.

Universal remotes can often be programmed to work with different devices, including tape recorders. Alternatively, you could try reaching out to Sony customer support for further assistance on obtaining a replacement remote in the UK.

I hope this helps, Richard! If you have any further questions or need more assistance, feel free to ask. Best wishes!

I hope this is helpful? PLEASE "ACCEPT" and mark it "HELPFUL" to complement my little effort. Hope to bring you more detailed answers.

Yes, you can record on tape without a remote on the Sony CMT-ED2. To do this, follow these steps:

Make sure that the tape deck is turned on.

Insert a recordable tape into the tape deck.

Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly until the source is set to TAPE.

Press the REC button to start recording.

Press the PLAY button to start playback.

The tape will now be recorded on both sides. To record on only one side, press the DIR MODE button repeatedly until g appears.

If you are having trouble recording without the remote, you can try using the front panel controls. The front panel controls are located below the display.

Here are some additional tips for recording on tape without a remote:

Make sure that the tape is inserted correctly.

Make sure that the tape is not already recorded on.

If you are recording from a radio signal, make sure that the signal is strong.

If you are recording from a CD, make sure that the CD is not scratched or damaged.

I hope this helps!
