Locate the stitch length dial on the right side of the machine. It is labeled with numbers from 0 to 4.

Turn the stitch length dial counterclockwise to a lower number to loosen the stitch length. For example, if the dial is set to 3, you can turn it down to 2 or 1 to make the stitches longer.

Test the stitch length on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure it is the desired length.

When adjusting the stitch length on a Singer sewing machine, it is critical to fully understand how this impacts your entire job. The thread length control affects how close or far apart stitches appear in a fabric seam. Stitch lengths are generally quantified in millimeters (mm) and frequently vary from 0.5 mm to 4 mm. It is critical to adjust the proper settings based on the type of substance being used as well as the intended impact for the finished product. To begin, consult your manual for instructions about where the stitch length adjustment dials or buttons are located on your specific model of Singer sewing machine; some machines may have multiple controls depending on their make and model. To change the settings, rotate or push down on these knobs until they reach the desired level indicated by either numbers or symbols printed beside them. If unsure, refer to a standard stitch length guide that outlines common measurements used when working with different types of fabrics such as denim, lightweight cotton, canvas and others. After setting your desired stitching pattern, test out a few stitches before starting any major projects to ensure accuracy and satisfactory results.
