Buttonhole Stitch Is Not Working

I am trying to make a buttonhole on my singer 7467.  I have read the manual and followed the directions, but the stitches are not zig-zagging.  It is coming out as a straight stitch.  I have played with the stitch width, but the stitches don't change.  Please help.
