No Picture The V Light Comes On For A Few Seconds The Screen Dimly Lights Upnfor

my sharp Tv won't turn on . The V on the bottom lights up when I unplug the cord and plug it back in. The V stays light for a few seconds then the screen dimly comes on for a second the the V and screen go off and won't turn back on .. please help me

Sharp uses cheap capacitors for their power supply. They frequently blow out. It is easy to open the TV and find the blown capacitor.(look for a crowned capacitor) It costs a couple of dollars to replace it and it is a very easy desolder/solder job. For my sharp TV it was 1 cap, and I replaced it and now it turns on just like new. You can review a guide on the instructables web page. Literally took me the most time just taking the back off the TV. The power board wires come right off the main board and backlight easy. And the soldering is easy with the pads pretty far away from any other pad.

Unplug set, press and hold (on set) volume-down and channel-down and hold them while pluging in set. Will come on with "k" on screen, or will crash again if backlight bad. If it stays on, use your remote and arrow right then look for "fact init" and any other reset and turn them on. Arrow back up to "fact init" and hit enter. Let set recycle to green and unplug/re-plug in 5 seconds: the set should be in OOB state.
