Samsung Ln-t4069fx Has Only Horizontal Lines Near Bottom Of Screen.
Hello: I have a Samsung LN-T4069FX (one of the bad capacitor models). A friend supposedly tried to do a firmware update on it and after there was no picture-just two or three (by memory) horizontal white lines near the bottom of the screen. Samsung arranged for a tech to inspect the caps, and they looked okay to both of us. I paid to have the tech bring it into the shop for a diagnosis......they tell me the mainboard is defective and needs replacement and a "full alignment". Their price quote was just under $400. I'm an electronic "dinosaur", but have some experience from many moons ago. I want to try to repair it myself. Because of the class action suit, I had Samsung agree to replace the caps, even though that isn't what the tech has stated is the problem. Does this sound like a mainboard issue?....Could there be a problem with the T-Con Board? I've located many reasonable sources for replacement parts, and most seem to have return policies, but I don't want to get caught spending good money and time for no good. I appreciate any guidance you can provide! (Jeff-New Jersey)
