Why Doessamsung Tv Model Ln46a550p3fxza Have A Clicking Sound When Turned Off.

The tv worked fine last night; after turning it off the tv made a loud clicking sound from the back of the tv. Unplugged all cables and power cord; left it overnight unplugged. Plugged everything in again this morning; tv will not even turn on - clicking sound is still present. What caused this problem?

The short answer is it's broke, and the most likely problem is the Digital
Main PC board. But it's also possible that there is a problem in the set's power
supply.

There are basically 3 things in an LCD TV: the Power Supply, the Digital Main circuit
board, and the actual LCD screen itself.

BTW, I urge anyone who buys a current technology HDTV to get an extended warranty. All of these
TV's, regardless of whether it's plasma, LCD, or rear projection, have large and
expensive assemblies that cannot be fixed, and must be replaced. In your case,
that would be the screen (and there is an outside chance your problem is caused
by this being defective, but that's a long shot).

remove the back and check for capacitors on the power supply that has the top puffed up slightly. If you find any, replace them. These parts (capacitors) are available at places like Radio Shack. you can either replace them yourself, or take the power supply board and the capacitors to a local TV shop and they will likely charge $20 to replace them for you. The power supply is the module that the AC cord plugs into, and the value of the capacitors is printed on the side. Normally the bad ones are rated at 16vdc and they could be 1000 to 2200 microfarads. These capacitors will look like a cylinder with a silver top. Google bad capacitors on LCD HDTV and you will see mass data.
