My Tv Only Works With Hdmi Cable And Then It Will Freeze

the tv will work only thru hdmi cable if i setup for avi i get a green checkerboard patterns and when operating in hdmi the tv will freeze thr screen will go blank then it resets itself i hear the tones come on then the picture works fine also it has a check #3 fan is this worth fixing i love the pic
