Where's The Indicator That Supposed To Point To Max In The Rinse Aid Dispenser?

I assume--oops, that's not good--we haven't overfilled the rinse aid dispenser yet and that's why we haven't seen the indicator. Do we need to bait him with cheese or peanut butter? We just want to talk to him so we understand how he's going to do his pointing thing. We're referring to illustration 2 on page 19 of the User Manual. Looking at the dispenser on the dishwasher door, we see MAX, we see the levels dial but no indicator.
