Is There A Trip For Putting On The Cap Nuts Of The Ridgid Wd19560?

Hi. I'm trying to assemble my Ridgid WD19560 Wet/Dry Vac and cannot seem to figure out how to get the cap nuts to go on the shaft? It doesn't matter how hard I hammer (being careful not to mash my fingers), the cap nuts will not go on. I have no idea what I can do...unless it's just simply that the cap nuts are faulty.

No the cap nuts are not faulty you just need to reassemble it again and align the parts in proper manner than the cap nuts will go on for sure.
