The On/off Button

The on/off button quit working while the unit was on...there is no spring in the movement.  Is there a way to fix it before I lose all the music I have on it?  The unit is less than a year old.

The same thing happened to my sons player. What you have to do is take a very thin object, such as a knife blade and run it all around the edge of the player (if you look carefully, you'll see the seam where the top and bottom join together) in order to separate the top cover, which includes the clear screen and the touch buttton area from the base which has all the electronics and ports. Do this gently but firmly. These two sections are attached by simple plastic tabs that "pop" into and out of place. This is easier to do than it sounds. Once you've got that done you'll see that the slide mechanism on the outer case is not engaging the actual on/off switch on the internal area. Slide the on/off switch to the on position and the slide (external) mechanism to the lock position so that the unit will function normally when reassembled. This part is a little bit trickier because these parts are very small and you might need someone to assist you. Once you've got these parts back in the correct order just snap the top back on and you should be good to go.

Good Luck.
