Gas Cap

I have had a Poulan Pro chainsaw Model PP3516AVX for a number of years. From the beginning the gas cap was barely removable with tools. I went the the service center and purchased a new one and had the same problem. Finally, after a few years of messing with the problem, today I called the service numbers and was quickly told, before I even gave a model number, that it was because there was Ethanol in the gas. She told me there was nothing they could do since most gas has Ethanol. She also said that they were aware of the problem for a number of years but still didn't have a solution. Come on now, that is not a helpful answer. I don't use my chainsaw a lot but each time I regret the purchase. What can be done? Is there really no corrective action in six years even though they have been aware of the problem?
