Pfaff Hobbylock 2.0 Problem

Aloha!  I have had my pfaff hobbylock 2.0 for 3 years now - never a problem - recently tho, when I am sewing, especially for several minutes (stop and go) the machine will begin to lag or slow down - I give it a rest and it starts out again, just fine, but after a short while it begins lagging again.   I am an experienced sewer of 40 years - I keep my machines well oiled and free from dust.  I cannont really "get into' my hobbylock to check if there is a link issue around the motor but I have used canned air to try and clean it out.   I live about 1 hour away from any maintenance shop - I have not taken this machine in for a professional clean-up....yet....  Any suggestions as to why it would begin to lag after using for even a short time.  Seems like it's overheating, but I really can't tell. Love the machine - along with my other pfaff that is 9 years old.  Any suggestions on what I can do here at home to troubleshoot or fix this problem?
