Panamax M5400 Pm Voltage Sense Trigger

Received the m5400 yesterday. Trying to use the trigger to turn home theater on and off. When powered off at the pre amp switch, the switched outlets are dead and will not turn back on at the pre amp. Must be powered back on with the m5400 power switch. My connections are from the pre amp output trigger to the m5400 input trigger.
