Connecting A Dynamic Microphone?

Does anybody know if it is possible to connect an ordinary dynamic microphone to the Onkyo TX SR707 amplifier?I've tried connecting it to the setup mic input and the portable input and also tried using the phones input with a bigger jack. But nothing seems to work!Is there any other way to connect it, perhaps with an external preamp or something? Please help me !
