First, let's start with a basic reset. Unplug the power cord from the back of the receiver and leave it disconnected for about 10 minutes. This will allow any residual power to dissipate and may help to reset the internal system. After the 10 minutes have passed, plug the power cord back in and see if the buttons start working again.
If a basic reset doesn't resolve the issue, there may be a more complex problem. In that case, I would suggest performing a factory reset. Please keep in mind that performing a factory reset will erase any settings or saved preferences on your receiver, so you'll need to set it up again afterwards. To perform a factory reset:
1. Turn the receiver off and unplug it from the power source.
2. While holding down the "BD/DVD" button on the front panel, plug in the power cord again and continue to hold the button until "Clear" appears on the display.
3. Release the button and the receiver will turn on. The display will now show "Clear" for a few seconds, indicating that the factory reset has been completed. After the factory reset, the receiver should be back to its default settings. Try using the buttons again and see if they are now functioning properly.
If the issue persists after trying both the basic and factory resets, it may be necessary to contact Onkyo customer support or bring the receiver to a professional technician for further diagnosis and repair.
I hope this is helpful? PLEASE "ACCEPT" and mark it "HELPFUL" to complement my little effort. Hope to bring you more detailed answers.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and wait for 5 minutes. This will reset the receiver's power supply.
Plug the power cord back in and turn on the receiver. If the buttons still don't work, try the following:
Press and hold the INPUT button for 10 seconds. This will reset the receiver's input settings.
Press and hold the SETUP button for 10 seconds. This will reset the receiver's settings to factory defaults.
If you have tried all of these things and the buttons still don't work, then the receiver may be defective. In this case, you will need to contact Onkyo for a replacement or repair.
Here are some additional tips for troubleshooting your Onkyo TX-NR545:
Check the fuse. If the fuse is blown, the receiver will not work.
Try connecting a different HDMI cable to the receiver. If you get sound from the different HDMI cable, then the original HDMI cable may be defective.
If you are still having trouble, you can try contacting Onkyo for support. They may be able to help you troubleshoot the problem over the phone or by email.
I hope this helps!
