Problem With Our Ht-s5200 Receiver

We only get hdmi audio passed through the av receiver to the tv, where it can be heard. We cannot get audio thru separate speakers connected to the onkyo receiver. Why?

If you have your Onkyo receiver hooked up as a pass through because the is better operability through your system this way. If you want your TV to perform without the pass through then you must remove if from this set up. You can't operate the set in both ways because they are different types of hook ups. Or just go HDMI out of the TV set into HDMI into the Onkyo receiver.
