Focus Problems On The S710.

I have a Nikon s710 and did not use it for about 6 months.  When I turned it on yesterday, the lens would not come out at first.  Then after I turned it off and on a few times, it finally worked.  But the camera will not focus when the button is depressed as it should auto focus
