Misfiring Only At Idle

Ive been having a problem with my 2000 mercury villager 3.3 L engine at idle it misfires and the idle fluctuates up and down. I originally was able to pull 2 codes out of the ECM one was for a misfire on clyinder 4 and the other one was for the knock sensor. I replaced the knock sensor and replaced the plugs, wires and cap &rotor and attempted to communicate with the ECM again and it would not connect to my snap on scanner. It's still missing at an idle and running ruff at an idle

Check the fuel injector it could be dirty
