Oil Change Information.
I have a new Mazda CX-5 (2016.5) and am looking for dealer to service my car in the future. I called a dealer regarding an oil change, service person said they use semi synthetic oil as well synthetic oil. There was a $25 difference and price synthetic of course being more expensive. I read the manual and I did not see semi synthetic mentioned. What is the proper oil for my vehicle? I want to do the proper thing but would be happy to pay $45 for the semi synthetic oil change rather $74 for the synthetic oil. What should I do? Dose this dealer no what they are talking about.Thanks Bill.

Better safe than sorry and follow the manual. While the semi-synthetic may not show any problems in the beginning, it may cause premature wear, particularly if a different viscosity is used, as well as extra fuel consumption, so the money you save in the oil change you lose in the fuel pumps instead. Personally I suggest paying more for the fully synthetic oil.
