Maytag Med5801tw Electric Dryer Timer Problems

My wife says the timer does not work properly.  Is there anything to look for other than to replace the timer control unit?  I would also like to get a copy of the repair manual for this dryer.  Your site lookup says that you do not have this manual available.

It takes  -1 to 11/2 hours to dry a normal load.  How can my husband fix this?
