Error 401 means you have not correctly logged in.

After you've hooked up the device to your computer via its USB port, follow the onscreen prompts.

If you've done this and you still can't get your magicJack to work, check the following.

Your device may not work properly, or at all

  • if you're not logged on to your Windows user account,
  • if it's not running,
  • if it's not secured in the USB port,
  • if the phone cord is not secured or is broken,
  • if you're not connected to the Internet,
  • or if your magicJack device is defective.

If the device is not defective, simple actions may resolve the problem, as outlined here. Or you may try these instructions.

If the device is defective, you need to return it. If you bought it from magicJack, follow the instructions at http://my.magicjack.com/returns.html.

If it's too late to return the device, you can seek a resolution with your credit card company or with the Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services, at 850-488-2221.
