Exit Gate Arm On Mega Arm System Stays Up. The Back Light Is On & Will Not Clea

The exit arm would only operate part of the time and could be made to go down by simply pushing on the arm lightly. Now it stays up and the back light is on. I have turned the power off anc disconnect the battery but the arm will not come down. It has been doing this for several months and on and off but could be cleared by either a light push on the arm or turning off the power. I also found a snake skin in the unit about the time we started having this problem.
