Installing Liftmaster In Place Of Genie

I've had a Genie Intellicode screw drive opener that is very loud.  I recently bought a used Liftmaster 3585P (for the quiet belt drive). Can I use my existing wall control panel and photo-eyes, or do I need to rip them out and purchase Liftmaster wall unit and photo eyes? (I've tried plugging the wires from the old Genie auxilliaries into the Liftmaster, and I can't get the photo eyes to work.  The Genie wall control will initiate the "open" sequence on the Liftmaster, but the independent light on/off button does not seem to work.  While the wall switch will "open" the door, it will not "close the door, since the photo eyes do not seem to be working.) I'd appreciate any advice you can provide. Thanks, MT

You need LiftMaster or Chamberlain or Craftsman safety sensor and if you like to use the lock and light feature on the wall control that has to be replaced too. It's 2 major brands and they are not compatible with each-other
