I Can't Get Sound

I have a monitor and I am trying to get sound to come out of it. I have gone through all the settings and not able to figure this out. I have also attached a speaker using an aux cord to the headphone part hoping it would play through the speaker but no luck there either. Hope someone can help.

If your monitor does not play sound it is very likely that you do not have built-in speakers.

Normally, computer screens lack the same, except for specific models.

If this is your case, you can check however, if it has an output for headphones or external speakers.

You can check on the back of your monitor to see if it incorporates a headphone output: you will see it labeled as H/P (Headphones) if it does.

In this output you can connect both headphones and external speakers. It will play the sound coming from the HDMI or DP (Display Port) cable of your computer.

You can adjust the volume using the on-screen monitor menu. On certain models you will also have to select audio source.

CAUTION: if you connect the monitor via VGA / RGB or DVI cable, keep in mind that this type of connection will not reproduce any sound, when transmitting only video. You can use the audio output of the sound card to connect it to, for example, speakers or headphones
