Lg Ru-42px11 Sound Ok - Screen Problem

Perfect sound but screen has either a vertical black bar covering about 25% of the screen at a time or the screen is all lit up but showing only colored lines. Any idea what the prboem is ? I can take a photo of the screen if that helps. Worth fixing or junk and get a new TV ?

This may happen due to connection breakdown which is a result of high heat and frequency of operation on this board. Over heating leads to 80% of all failures in these sets, so ventilate the set properly.
