How Do I Get Past The Google Activation?

I purchased a LG ls665 from a friend and before he sold it to me he wiped all his info from the phone but he must of entered his email account in google play or gmail because when I try and activate it google asks for the previous google account that the phone was linked to. Well my friend has passed away and I dont know that info. what am I to do?

Simplest way is a factory reset which puts it back to a new device. This link will explain how and also give you links to other help docs.
