Dw Clicks And Stops

DW starts to fill. After about 2 minutes, a clicking noise starts and the DW will not progress in the cycle.Only solution is to Cancel. Repeated tries fail. Solution:unload and wash by hand,I let the DW sit unused for almost 2 years. Finally called a repair tech, He started the DW, cycled it with his computer, and said it was working perfectly.I started to use it. Occasionally, the clicking would initiate but it would eventually go into the correct cycle and complete the entire wash/dry cycles selected. Now after almost 2 years, it is coming to a complete stop as before.

There are a few possible reasons why your KitchenAid dishwasher might be clicking and not progressing in the cycle:

Drain pump problem: The drain pump is responsible for pumping water out of the dishwasher. If the drain pump is clogged or faulty, it can cause the dishwasher to stop working.

Inlet valve problem: The inlet valve is responsible for letting water into the dishwasher. If the inlet valve is clogged or faulty, it can cause the dishwasher to stop working.

Water pressure problem: If the water pressure is too low or too high, it can cause the dishwasher to stop working.

Control board problem: The control board is responsible for controlling all of the dishwasher's functions. If the control board is faulty, it can cause the dishwasher to stop working.

To troubleshoot the problem, you can try the following:

Check the drain pump. Make sure that the drain pump is not clogged and that it is operating properly.

Check the inlet valve. Make sure that the inlet valve is not clogged and that it is operating properly.

Check the water pressure. Make sure that the water pressure is within the range specified by the dishwasher.

Check the control board. If you have tried all of the above and the dishwasher is still not working, then the control board may need to be replaced.

If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the dishwasher yourself, you should contact a qualified repair technician.

Based on the history of your dishwasher, it is possible that the drain pump or inlet valve is clogged. I would recommend starting by cleaning the drain pump and inlet valve. You can find instructions on how to do this in the dishwasher's owner's manual.

If cleaning the drain pump and inlet valve does not solve the problem, then you may need to replace the drain pump or inlet valve. You can purchase replacement parts from KitchenAid or from a qualified appliance repair shop.

If you have replaced the drain pump and inlet valve and the dishwasher is still not working, then the control board may need to be replaced. The control board is a more expensive part, but it is possible to replace it yourself if you are comfortable doing so. You can find instructions on how to replace the control board in the dishwasher's owner's manual.

If you are not comfortable replacing the control board yourself, you should contact a qualified repair technician.
