It means that device has the capability to connect to wireless internet networks without being connected to a router like hotels internet some stores and restraunts have free wifi meaning u can get online through their internet for free

some devices do not have the function to connect to the router directly, you man need an extension device to make it functional. but built in wifi means that you can directly operate from your device and connect to your router.
