Why Am I Having Such A Very Hard Time Trying To Start My 440 Chainsaw.

Is there a secret? i've taken it to two different places. and they started it on the first or second try. I bought the 440 chainsaw new ...about a year a go . My wife said she started it .once . Again about a year ago .....She lost the operating manual .... I've watched carefully how the other two parties started it. and i stood there in disbelief. They started it. HELP !

Here is the user manual:

Normally one has to pump fuel into the carb. When the bulb is full you close the 'choke' and a sharp pull on the starter cord should start it. You can have a faulty spark plug and that can be checked outside the engine with the cap on the plug and the thread touching the engine body. A spark should be seen. It can be a knack to get it right first time. Change the plug every year as they do not live long due to the stress they have.

Hope you can get it going with the help of the manual.

What would cause a Husqvarna chainsaw not to start?

The carburetor might be clogged. A clogged carburetor is often caused by leaving fuel in the chainsaw for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel will evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and prevent the engine from starting.
