Oven Turns On Spontatiously When In Off Position

I have a hotpoint oven that is about 16 years old and it suddenly started turning on spontaniously,  even though the knob is set to the off position.  It has electronic ignition and uses propane as a fuel.  I am currently between jobs, so money is an issue and I woul prefer to fix it my self.  I have turned off the breaker that operates it and am using matches to run the burners.  It is not leaking gas or anything but if it has power it it will light and start heating on its own.
