Thermostat Th5220d1003 Automatically Changes Temp To 50
It automatically went down to 50 and any attempt to increase temp it reverted to 50. Tech who installed said it did not need battery but on a lark I put them in and it quit doing that. Is my Thermostat faulty. It is only 2 months old.

Why does the temperature on my thermostat change by itself?This is called a demand response event. Now, this doesn't mean that your air conditioner will turn off, and you'd be sitting in a very hot room. With such an event, the thermostat changes by itself, and the temperature is only increased by a few degrees.
