Ac Power Adapter

there is a purple cap on the end of the ac power adapter cord tthat does not mate with cord to the ac outlet

If thats what I "think" it is it's just a cover and can be removed and discarded. If it does not slide off easily then I could be wrong and you may have a specialized cord. I suggest doing a Google image search on " HP C310 power cord" and see if you can identify the "cap".
