Ink Cartridges All Needed To Be Replaced At Once
My HP 8600 printer said the black ink was out so I replaced it with 950 cartridge. It printed five or six copies then said the Yellow ink cartridge needed to be replaced. So I replaced it and then it said Magenta needed to be replaced. Is this normal?

Yes. This is possible because your printer may have used all the Magenta colors. The contents of the ink cartridges do not consumed at once. You can only fix this issue by reinstalling ink cartridges filled with sufficient ink contents.

I would suggest you to check the ink level before replacing the ink cartridge; you can check the estimated ink levels from the printer software or from the printer control panel. For information about using these tools, see Printer management tools and Use the printer control panel. You can also print the Printer Status page to view this information (see Understand the Printer Status Report).
