How Can I Restore The Bios Security Setting To Factory Default For My Hp Mini

The bios settings have no influence on the OS. If your security settings need resetting then use the F10 key at boot up and that allows access to the BIOS.If there is no power on password set then you can access the bios. However if someone has put a boot up password on the laptop and has forgotten it then a motherboard is the only option. HP will not give out backdoor passwords for power on passwords. If you can access the BIOS then resetting is a formality by selecting the relevant section.

In the event that you have lost all of your administrator account passwords, and you do not have a password reset disk available to change or restore the password, you will have to re-image your computer. If you have a factory-installed image on your computer, you may do so by turning the computer off, turning it back on, and pressing the f11 key before the Windows Vista logo screen appears. Then follow the directions on screen. If you have installed Windows Vista yourself, you may have to reinstall the operating system manually.
