is there any drawback if I leave the flow controler out of my ec40ac filter. I plan on replacing my one hp pump with a one and a half hp pum

I was wondering the same. Did it work out without the controller or did it cause other problems?

I just switched from a cartridge filter to a de filter, the pressure is considerably less. I was hoping to remove it.

I was told that it helps prevent D.E. and filtrates from "blowing past" the fingers in the filter, especially on start up of the pump.
It works by slowing the "rate" of water entering the filter housing, but won't affect system pressure at running speeds.
The problem is not very noticeable, until you leave it out of a strong pump system.0-0
