Does This Laptop Support Core 2 Extreme Qx9300 Cpu?
Currently considering upgrading cpu. Would love a quad core cpu over duo core!

Based on the product specifications provided by Cnet.com, Gateway P7805u - FX Edition laptop does not support Core 2 Extreme CPU. This laptop has a Mobile Intel PM45 Express chipset which support Core 2 Duo Processors. In short, the CPU of this laptop cannot be upgraded. You can read about its specifications here:

The answer is YES.. While the Gateway P-7805U FX does NOT support Core 2 Quad for whatever stupid reason, the X9100 Core 2 Extreme is INDEED supported. I am currently using that processor on my laptop and I have it overclocked at 4Ghz. Also, the memory has been tested with two 8GB DDR3 DIMMS and the result is 16GB DDR3!
The previous answer is wrong.. The 7805u FX can support Core 2 Extreme, but not Core 2 Quad.
