Cd/rom Not Functioning Properly

My DVD drive is not working. It spins up for a second, then stops and does nothing. When I click on the drive directory from the start menu to run/install manually, it says "E:/ The directory name is invalid." I've tried the autoplay settings troubleshooting already. Please help
