Gateway Dx4831 Dx4831-01e
I want to upgrade my memory with 4 single 4 gigabyte of RAM utilizing 4GB (Single Memory Stick) M-1333T-4096BD16DE34087, which will work in this computer,
into the 4 slots totaling 16 gigabytes for the gateway DX4831-o1e. Can this be done since I bought the computer in July of 2011 or does the bios need updating? Is it only a total of 8 gigabytes of memory that this computer takes or can it take 16 gigabytes total?

Memory Upgrade for Gateway DX4831-01E Computer, the Gateway DX4831-01E Computer takes the PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 240pin SDRAM DIMM Memory Type, and comes installed with 1GB of Memory. You can upgrade your Gateway DX4831-01E Computer to up to a maximum of 8GB Memory, the system has 4 (4 banks of 1) to install Memory, already with 1GB standard Memory installed. For best Computer performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your Computer.
