Ac Compressor Clutch

My 3 yo Delphi compressor works fine, but about a year ago it started this problem. turn the ac on, all is fine. drive down the road, slow to a stop, compressor clutch disengages. I am aware the clutch coil could be bad, but this was a brand new compressor. i had an ac shop adjust the air gap on the clutch and it still does it. the compressor will reengage upon rapid acceleration. are there any other components or a wiring problem that could be causing this?
