Temperature Digital Display Is Doing Strange Things The Digital Displa

Temperature Digital Display Is Doing Strange Things Hi, The digital display for the freezer fluctuates around -19 to -25 degrees, instead of showing 0 degrees (items in the freezer are more frozen than usual). The digital display for the refrigerator is flashing the number 4 instead of showing 37 degrees. Someone told me I might need to reset the defrost timer, but I cannot find it on this refrigerator (model # FFHS2313LS3). Could you direct me to where it is and/or suggest what the problem and related solution might be?   Thank you, Beatrice

Thank you, Chris. Meanwhile, I turned off the refrigerator and then turned it back on and now the digital display is ok, 0 degrees for the freezer, 37 degrees for the fresh food section. I'll wait a bit and see if it stays that way or goes back to the same problem, in which case I'll call a service person. If I do have to change the control board a year and a half after buying this refrigerator, I won't be happy, though!

Beatrice

Hello there!

I do apologize for the concerns you have recently experienced with the refrigerator appliance. From your description, it sounds as if you are experiencing a damper issue within the unit. This requires a professional to diagnose the damper, damper switch and damper door of the unit. The damper is a "flap-like" component between the two doors. It allows the freezer side of the unit to cool the refrigerator side. If the freezer side is having issues, or the damper is not opening correctly, you will easily see a fluctuation in temperatures and the resulting "flasing 4" in the fresh food section of the display panel. If the flashing 4 continues, a professional may need to replace the main control board of the unit as well. This communicates all functions and temperature settings to the rest of the appliance.

At this time, there are no troubleshooting steps I can advise of prior to contact a professional. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck!
