Excessive Rear Passenger Tire Wear

2005 XLT Ford Explorer 4x4/AWD  136,000 Miles Two years ago I had noticed that the rear passenger tire was almost bald and the other 3 tires probably were about 50% wore.  Mechanic had checked anad replaced the rear differential oil and said it was a little watery but found no shavings in the oil.  Now, about 3  mos shy of 2 years the same tire again has way more excessive wear than the other and they were all replaced at the same time. I was wondering what the heck is causing this and what kind of costs am I looking at to have it repaired?
