Lost Reverse In 2005 Ford Explorer Advance Trac Flushed And Reinstalled Help?

What could cause the transmission to loss reverse? We let it sit for almost 3 months because we had to replace the timing chain on it. Ford Technition and my mechanic worked on the vehicle and the have it perfect. I have heard that because of the type of transmission it may take time to pick up on the speed sensors on the front and back before it picks it up. Is it that the ABS and speed sensors need time before it wull start working correctly again?
