2000 Ford Expedition 5.4 - Why Is My Overdrive Cutting Out?

As soon as the vehicle is in overdrive it feels like there is this vacuum loss, and lack of power.  The first time this happened, the check engine light came on with the code P1406 (EGR).  I replaced the EGR then I reset the codes.  Light came back on.  Replaced the DPFE... reset... light.  Replaced the computer vacuum control solinoid... reset... no light. So, a $150 for 3 parts and hoses, same problem.  Maybe these parts needed to be replaced at the same time when this overdrive situation happened. Any suggestions on what I can do to troubleshoot and/or figure out what is going on with the overdrive?  I am up for anything.   Thanks
