Range Is Not Sucking Air Out.

When we turn the range hood on the fan is blowing air into the house instead of sucking it outside.  Is there a solution to this problem.

To the best of my knowledge, no range hood venting system should be venting in two directions. There should be a way to direct the air back out into the kitchen, or horizontally thru the wall to the outside, or vertically thru the roof to the outside. So, either there is a problem with the directional set up, or, perhaps the external venting has become blocked, forcing air back into the kitchen. Range hoods that are properly set up for recirculation (driving the air back into the kitchen), should have additional carbon (recirculation) filters to clean the air. These carbon filters (not to be confused with "grease filters" that should always be in place to keep fingers out of the fan!) should be replaced every year or two. When you buy the hood, expect to buy the carbon filters separately, if you need them for recirculation.
