Hello, my name is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service.  To answer your question, to get a true HD picture, the receiver needs to be upgraded to an HD receiver if its not already.  So in all it depends on what you currently have installed.  Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any other questions.
